Ensure guards are in the correct position

1. Do not allow other people to stand near or in front of your grinding operation.

2. The guard should be easily adjustable and should be adjusted as required.

3. Ensure that the guard is in the correct position, between the operator and the wheel, before work starts.

Wearing safety protective gear

1. When using the portable grinder, assess the task and working environment to determine if additional protective equipment such as gloves, dust masks, or hearing protection is required.

2. Always wear approved safety glasses or goggles.

3. Use face protection to protect against flying debris.

4. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry and tie up long hair.

Proper operation

1. The grinder operator should stand firm to maintain concentration and balance. Hold the portable grinder with both hands.

2. Run any newly fitted grinding wheel at operating speed for 1 minute before grinding and allow the grinder to reach full speed before starting work. Ensure that the grinder runs smoothly and does not vibrate.

3. Check the portable grinder, the grinding wheels to be used, and the guard before operation and follow all the manufacturer's recommendations and instructions for any grinder and accessories you may use.

4. Avoid applying excessive pressure to the grinding wheel. If there is any unusual noise or vibration, turn the grinder off and carry out another check to resolve the problem before resuming work.

5. Immediately after a task or job is completed, unplug the power cord, clean the work area and dispose of the grinder debris safely.

1. Do not use liquid coolants together with the grinder as they can cause the metal to shatter.

2. Do not grind materials that are not designed for use with grinding wheels.

3. Do not use hand-held portable grinders without trained personnel.

4. Do not leave tools on the workbench while the grinding wheel is still spinning after turning off the grinder.
